Recently, Gintama put out its latest volume in Japan, and the publication.
#Gintama ending series
Still, at that point, it doesn't have filler or anything, so it's not like it's significantly worse than the manga either, it just has mediocre direction and they clearly lack budget for long fighting arcs which take over the series at that point. The official website for Gintama: The Final, the new anime film of Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama manga, unveiled a new visual for the film on Thursday. For some time now, the man behind Gintama has hinted at its ending, and it looks like the finale may really hit this year. The first serious arc under the new team actually has some pretty stand out scenes though (Shinigami arc, 279-281), but the general visuals and backgrounds were very different from standard Gintama and they clearly regretted going that far with it, going back to some really mediocre style for the next arcs which were just a worse version of the previous director's work.
Some of the humor timing is off, they stopped adding new jokes consistently outside of playing around with the opening, and the action arcs have many problems, from randomly adding beam effects to way too many sword slashes (rather than keeping that for rare dramatic moments) to quickly running out of animation budget leading to many slideshows.
Up to episode 265.Īfter the second director change the manga is generally better than the anime. The animation is generally mediocre, but starting from the second year of the anime they stepped up when it was necessary for the serious stories. Thank you for ending nicely (rare for most shonen and manga in general) and for being a big part of my life. A lot of the added humor genuinely became part of the series' identity.
